The Graduate Student Research Symposium, held each March, includes poster presentations from more than 200 graduate students from NC State University. Posters are judged by faculty, and students receive recognition for top posters.
This year, Ruocun (John) Wang received 2nd place at the event in the Engineering category. His research involves investigating the effect of water on the energy storage mechanisms as well as the electrochemically-associated mechanical behavior in transition metal oxides.
During his time here, Ruocon has been gaining experience as a graduate student in Dr. Augustyn’s lab, spending much of his time investigating phenomena that occur at the interface between liquid and transition metal oxides. A hard worker in and out of the lab, he also helps with Dr. Augustyn’s outreach program, SciBridge. SciBridge focuses on sending educational experimental kits to universities in East African countries.
