{"id":444,"date":"2021-04-19T12:15:07","date_gmt":"2021-04-19T16:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mse.ncsu.edu\/amassian\/news\/2021\/2021-egames-winners-announced\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T17:04:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T21:04:14","slug":"2021-egames-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mse.ncsu.edu\/amassian\/news\/2021\/2021-egames-winners-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 eGames Winners Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Tuesday, April 13, the NC State entrepreneurship community gathered virtually to watch the 2021 eGames Award Ceremony emceed by NC State alumni and Fox Sports reporter, Amanda Busick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in 2009 by NC State Entrepreneurship, the eGames has become NC State\u2019s largest startup competition awarding over $100,000 in cash prizes to NC State entrepreneurs. In 2020 the eGames ranked in the <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofe.com\/insight-into-the-top-20-university-entrepreneurship-competitions\/\">Top 20 University Entrepreneurship Competitions<\/a> in the nation by Times of Entrepreneurship, and this year the competition broke a record awarding $113,000 in cash prizes. &#8220;The students&#8217; entrepreneurial spirit is infectious and it inspires us to make this competition bigger and better each year,&#8221; said Dr. Tom Miller, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Outreach and Entrepreneurship and McPherson Family Distinguished Professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students were able to compete in two categories \u2013 the \u201cThink\u201d and \u201cDo\u201d categories. The \u201cThink\u201d category is for students with an idea or business in the early stages. The \u201dDo\u201d category is for students with an established startup that is generating revenue, has received investments or has licensed IP.
