- Article in Materials & Design on friction-extruded copper-graphene composites published.
- LAMaRC participated in TMS 2024; Dr. Gwalani chaired the Phase Transformations and Microstructural Evolution Symposium.
- Special Issue editing for JOM on metal processing and phase transformations began.

- The United States Department of Defense has awarded an $8.5 million grant to support the establishment of a cutting-edge center focused on designing materials with extreme properties.
- Bharat was invited for a talk at iCANX on “Deformation-Induced Modification of Phase Transformation Pathways in Metallic Systems.”
- The state-of-the-art Pico indenter PI-89 has been installed and tested for nanoindentation!

- Bharat and a grad student (Farhan Ishrak) visited Enabled Engineering, located in Blacksburg, VA, to explore future collaboration opportunities in applying deformation processing techniques for alloy development.
- Bharat will be talking on “Deformation-Induced Modification of Phase Transformation Pathways in Metallic Systems” at the Metallurgical and Materials Science Department of Colorado School of Mines on Jan 26
- A special issue on “Microstructural Design, Properties and Biomedical Applications of Alloys” goes live.
- Farhan joined the group as a graduate research assistant fellow

- Research on Phase Stability and Kinetics of Topotactic Dual Ca2+–Na+ Ion Electrochemistry in NaSICON NaV2 (PO4) 3 is published in Chemistry of Materials, which is led by Linda Nazar’s group.
- The first paper in the series of development of micro-shear testing and analysis capabilities is submitted – Shear Localization in single-phase Cu and Cu/Nb Nanolaminates using Micromechanical Framework.
- Research on “Temperature-dependent formation of gradient structures with anomalous hardening in an Al-Si alloy” is accepted in Materials Science and Engineering A
- Research on “Circumventing Strength-Ductility Paradox in High Entropy Alloys through Deformation Processing” is accepted in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds
- Welcomed Kai, Charles, and Aidan into the group, joining as undergrad researchers.
