🔥 Hot stuff: do not touch! 🥵 Professor Bharat Gwalani took students in his MSE 440 course on a field trip to Hallman Foundry, LLC located in Sanford, North Carolina last week!

MSE 440 student Sophia Isacco shared her thoughts on the trip:

"I had a great time visiting Hallman Foundry! Seeing what we discussed in class in person really brought the material to life. It was so interesting to see how the casting process works at all stages, especially with real-world industry applications! Learning about the manufacturing side of casting really informed the theoretical and design side of engineering."

NC State University has joined forces with 15 top institutions in a groundbreaking energy research hub, thanks to a $62.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy! 🚀🔋

Led by Stanford University, the Aqueous Battery Consortium is set to revolutionize battery technology with a focus on sustainable, water-based electrolytes. This innovative approach aims to create cheaper, more environmentally friendly batteries for large-scale energy storage.

NC State Materials Science’s own Professor Veronica Augustyn is a key player in this initiative, bringing her expertise in aqueous electrochemistry to the forefront of this game-changing project. 🙌

A huge shoutout to MSE alum Jake Hooks and his wife Jennifer for their generous donation, which will help establish an Advanced Battery Materials Center at NC State! 🌟
