High-Temperature Oxidation Lab
Our High-Temperature Oxidation Laboratory is equipped with a state-of-the-art suite of furnaces and gas-delivery systems for static and cyclic oxidation, controlled-atmosphere exposures, and high-temperature heat treatments up to 1700 °C. These capabilities enable reproducible testing of oxidation behavior, scale adherence, and material performance under realistic service conditions.
Cyclic Oxidation Testing
We offer automated, computer-controlled cyclic oxidation experiments using:
- Carbolite vertical tube furnace – 1-zone, up to 1600 °C
- Lindberg three-zone vertical tube furnace – Up to 1200 °C
Both systems allow programmed thermal cycling with dwell periods, automated specimen handling, and controlled cooling, providing highly repeatable conditions relevant to turbine and propulsion environments.
Static Oxidation Testing
Dry Gas Exposures
- Lindberg horizontal three-zone tube furnaces – Up to 1200 °C, with precise control of oxidizing, reducing, and water-vapor-containing gases.
- Across International horizontal two-zone tube furnace – Up to 1700 °C, capable of CO₂, CO, air, and inert-gas mixtures.
Water Vapor and Humid Environments
- Lindberg horizontal tube furnaces – Up to 1200 °C, with integrated vapor-generation for humid air and combustion-relevant atmospheres.
- MTI OTF-1500X horizontal tube furnace – Up to 1500 °C, allowing precise water-vapor injection in mixed-gas environments.
These systems enable testing under dry air, humid air, mixed oxidants, and tailored gas chemistries for energy, aerospace, and nuclear applications.
High-Temperature Heat Treatments
- Carbolite box furnace – Up to 1300 °C, ideal for annealing, solution treatments, and rapid thermal conditioning of samples before oxidation testing.
- Lindberg Blue M box furnace – Up to 1200 °C, with programable heating curve, ideal for multiple stages heat treatments.
