University Faculty Scholars
Recognizing leaders in research, teaching and service
The University Faculty Scholars program, established by the chancellor in 2012, recognizes and rewards emerging academic leaders at NC State. Faculty selected for this honor receive the University Faculty Scholar title and a permanent increase to their base salary. Since the program began in 2012, 298 NC State faculty have been named University Faculty Scholars.
Nominations are submitted by colleges and reviewed by a committee of senior faculty. Eligible nominees include second-term assistant professors, all associate professors, and professors within their first three years at that rank. Candidates are evaluated on research and scholarship, excellence in teaching and mentoring, and leadership in extension, professional organizations, and public engagement.
